Struggling for fabric inspiration for your dining chair makeover?
Choosing a fabric to upholster your dining chairs in can be a difficult decision, especially with so many options to choose from. Not only do we help our clients with the design process of the upholstery, but also mainly with fabric choices. We know that durability and practicality can also be major decision contributors when considering fabrics- not just appearance.
We can help you find fabrics that can cover all aspects of the above! We have upholstered many dining chairs in practical, sumptuous fabrics which have created great dining chair transformations which the clients are thrilled with!
One of the first examples we have is this gorgeous Warwick Plush Velvet contrasted against a striking printed Liberty Velvet. We were so pleased with how this dining set looked once it was finished and is the perfect example of using a statement fabric. This velvet has a wonderfully soft texture. Plush Velvet is so soft, yet hard-wearing – the Rub Test of over 100,000 means it exceeds UK requirements for both domestic and contract upholstery. What makes it even better is that it is a super EasyClean quality which helps to repel liquids. What is not to love about this fabric? They have expanded their range to 66 colourways so you will be sure to find the perfect match for your upholstery project.
This next example shows a set of dining chairs upholstered in a contrasting pattern fabric with complementing plain velvet. This antique dining set looked quite tired and dull before we transformed it with the pop of colours. Here we used Omega Velvet by Linwood and contrasted it against Geometry Rhombus Electric by Warwick Fabrics. Once again these fabrics are long lasting and durable, exceeding rub tests which make them the perfect upholstery fabric to have on your dining chairs. Warwick’s Omega collection is one of their best sellers and there is a reason why. It is made from Polyester so it is hard-wearing and durable but has the look of a more expensive cotton velvet. It is stain-resistant which makes it even more perfect to upholster with, especially for pieces of furniture such as dining chairs.
Our client wanted their dining chairs updating in a more modern fabric to go with the rest of their interior scheme. They chose sumptuous Grey Linn Amber Velvet by Warwick and is the perfect velvet fabric for upholstery, it is high quality with a rub test of over 60,000 – making it a durable option to use for a dining chair upholstery project. The contrast against the vintage polished wood gives it a modern twist and is a good example of upholstering aged furniture.
This set of six dining chairs already had character and a lovely design, but our client wanted something a little more modern and up to date, without getting rid of a perfectly good set! This is why we love upholstery, it can give new purpose to old furniture without the waste.
We upholstered this dining chair set with a sumptuous Plush Velvet from Warwick in a lovely sage green shade which still worked with the vintage style woodwork. We also added the studded details into the fabric which accentuates the design detail. They look like a brand-new set of chairs and it just goes to show the right choice of fabric is well worth the decision time!
