Who we are
Semper Hopkins Upholstery and Interiors benefits from two generations of experience to produce beautiful bespoke and customised furniture.
As a father and daughter team we combine our skills, passion and creativity to produce unique pieces for your home. Our experience provides a rich understanding of interiors and furniture; Ian specialises in carpentry and salvaging reclaimed materials, whilst Emma is passionate about upholstery and interior creations.
Thank you very much...I was so pleased with the set I received from SH Upholstery, it compliments my son’s bedroom perfectly & he loves it!! Emma’s eye for detail is exceptional and the finish on them is first class, you can tell she really takes pride in what she creates. I would totally recommend S.H Upholstery (and have done) to all my family & friends
Received our Manchester bee crate today. After getting married in Manchester town hall these bees hold a special place in our heart and we love the fact we now have one of our own, on a beautifully made crate, for our new home. Top quality and an amazing service. Thank you xx
Emma has done a fantastic job on two pieces I recently commissioned. Amazing service from interpreting the brief to sourcing and styling the chairs. The two bespoke chairs have brought individual character to the room. Highly recommend Emma to friends and family. Already thinking about my next piece.
I received one of your boxes as a lovely house warming present a couple of months ago. The fabric was beautiful quality and the personalised touch made it even more special. I'm now using it to store vinyls with my vinyl player sitting on top of it. Thank you!
We gave Emma our dining chairs that had been passed down through the family in desperate need of a revamp. Emma has worked her magic and we are absolutely thrilled with the results, the quality of her work is outstanding. Thank you Emma!!
Would recommend anyone to use Emma's services. I gave her an old wingback chair and a vague colour scheme and a few weeks later I got back a gorgeous chair and matching footstool that look amazing. A very talented lady!
So what do we do?
We are inspired by different eras of interior design and raw materials often mixing different periods to create stylish spaces and distinct pieces which can be seen in the work that we produce and is reflected in the converted Chapel that we work from.
Using our mix of imaginative ideas, we take pleasure in designing, and creating beautiful handmade pieces whether it be providing a reupholstery service, working with reclaimed materials and old furniture, or restoring much loved family heirlooms.
We spend hours stripping, sanding, cleaning, waxing, polishing, reupholstering to ensure everything that we touch is refurbished to the highest quality whilst still retaining its character.
We are both extremely passionate about what we do and this is reflected in our workmanship. Clients often remark on our imaginative, inspiring and thoughtful ideas and acute attention to detail. These are but a few of the reasons why they choose to work with us. Above all we are a genuine friendly duo, who enjoy a bit of fun so why not get in touch or call in to the chapel to see what we do for yourselves.
Many years ago I began making soft furnishings for my own home. I enjoyed working with an exciting variety of fabrics, quickly developing a passion for creating something to make my home beautiful.
I found myself spending many an hour providing ideas for interiors or soft furnishings for family and friends. I thought to myself there is a business here. Determined to pursue my passion beyond this I started a Diploma in Professional Interior Design through the National Design Academy in Nottingham, whilst holding down a full time job in the corporate world. I had plenty of opportunities to practice my new skills as at the same time we were renovating an old doctor’s surgery into the four bedroom Victorian house in which we now live…
