2022 The year of doing the things I love, and the year I turn 40…

Where has 2022 gone? We are already at the end of March. This year marks a big milestone birthday for me. I turn 40 on the 21st April, very luck to share the same birthday as the Queen. At the beginning of the year I had considered writing up 40 things I wanted to do when I turn 40, but that seemed like a daunting task to think of 40 things and it takes precious time, so here I am just going along with it and doing it. My motto for 2022 was to do more things that make me happy, and doing less planning is one of them!

We’ve done so many fun things so far this year, from visiting London for a half term trip to see Lion King (and visiting lots of the sites) , Monster Jam in Liverpool, Strictly Come Dancing live, not to mention being on BBC Radio Stoke– an amazing opportunity to talk about Semper Hopkins Upholstery and Interiors.

Finding a new creative hobby

I love to learn new things and my hobbies tend to be practical as I like to see the physical results. This is why I loved learning upholstery as a creative hobby but ever since it turned into my business I have been looking for something new.

Three weeks ago I started to learn a new hobby; Pottery classes at Cheshire Clay studio. I’ve signed up to a six week night class and so far we’ve had a go at pinch pots, throwing a pot on a wheel amongst other techniques. Throwing a pot isn’t as easy as it looks, it’s very technical, the first one turned out ok, but my second one hasn’t turned into a pot!

Last week we were trying out different glaze techniques and colours. On Tuesday we got to see how they turned out and I’m quite impressed at the first attempt ! I’ve really enjoyed being immersed in something totally new and meeting lots of different people. I enjoyed having another creative outlet to upskill what I already have.

I’m going to be an Author in Seen 2!

As I said I’m making 2022 the year of opportunities and doing more things that make me happy. I’m proud to say I will be part of a book called Seen 2 along with 14 other fabulous female entrepreneurs who share their story of how they stepped into their passion, purpose and power launching October 2022 in collaboration with Kat Jane Massey. A charity based book supporting Milestone Mums- a peer support group for mums with mental health problems. The first Seen book was published in 2021 and was an Amazon Best Seller.  I can’t wait to share my story and become a published author. Best get busy writing ✍️ 🥰

Featuring in Cheshire living…

We were very proud to have a full three page write up in February’s edition of cheshire living magazine. It was part of my business vision in 2022 for Semper Hopkins Upholstery & Interiors to be more visible and share my story.  A third of the way through the year and we’ve been on the radio, in local papers & regional magazines. Super proud to the start of the year. Thank you to the help of Michelle Ewen & Christian Ewen from Write on Time Ltd.
