Top three tips on how I overcame a fear of tech to launch online upholstery courses
Do you have fears that hold you back? Do you wish you could do something about it? Last year I turned 40, I challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone and say yes to more opportunities that I previously would have said no to, because of fear. By going with that philosophy opened up so many new opportunities I would have never got to experience.
One of those fears for me was a fear or tech, and still is! I have always sat back and watched other entrepreneurs deliver online courses and programmes and thought it was out of my reach. I had a fear of tech, not knowing how to record, how to edit, what platform the courses should go on, the lists are endless.
So what did I do about this pesky fear? I took action….around May 2022 I saw a retreat course advertised by a fellow entrepreneur and online business coach called Remi from Online Business Temple. The retreat sounded right up my street. I know my learning style, I love to learn in person. I like to ask lots of questions, I get energy from others around me. I knew I didn’t have a lot of time to learn and this retreat was going to deliver how to create a course in a weekend. So I jumped on board and signed myself up for a weekend getaway.
What did I learn?
The weekend away was intense but incredible. I came away feeling inspired and with loads of energy. I had learned so much, not only getting over my fear of technology but also recording videos. I learned the process of creating an online course, tips on how to record, how to edit, and add audio, creating learning guides the list goes on. The biggest achievement was getting over my fear and getting out of my own way!

I have been asked by many people do you offer online workshops? You are just too far away. I can’t get to your in person workshops. Do you run online courses? There are many reasons why we are launching but one of the main reasons is we are responding to our clients request for more accessibility to be able to do upholstery from the comfort of their own home.
What are the benefits of online upholstery courses?
You can do it whenever you want. There’s no need to worry about taking time off work, rushing to pick up the children, or whatever commitments you have. Choose the time that suits you, when you are in the right frame of mind, and when you really want to do it.
You can do the activity wherever you want to do it. You can do it from the comfort of your own home or you may choose to do it with a friend, or in a group. You don’t need a huge space to be able to do upholstery, you can do it from your kitchen table.
Learning a new skill like upholstery offers a mindfulness element to it which can have a profound impact in your work or personal life. It leaves you feeling re-energised, fulfilled, with a massive sense of accomplishment. Upholstery is a skill that is more than just beautiful furniture.
