Do you want to do your bit for the environment?

Beautiful furniture which doesn’t compromise the environment? Are you interested?

Let 2022 be the year you turn to reupholstery…

As we are all more aware of, we need to change how we are consuming products in order to save the environment. But, must our tastes be compromised due to this? Definitely not. There are plenty of fabric manufacturers which have adapted to the environmental crisis and created high quality, sustainable fabrics which look amazing too!

But why should you do it?

Buying new furniture just because your old pieces don’t match your new decor is not needed. Trust me. If you truly love the furniture you have already, there is always a way of reupholstering it in order to create a beautiful piece of furniture designed with you in mind. Imagine your favourite chair after a complete makeover, in a fabric of your choice? You will cherish it more, and it will have saved the environment too. Win win.

If you have a piece of old furniture which you fancy giving a little sprucing, or if you have bought an old piece of furniture (which you see the potential in), here are some fabric suppliers which may just have the sustainable material of your dreams…

Here at Semper Hopkins, we have used Linwood Fabric on many of our upholstery pieces, and have been so pleased with how they have come out. Linwood have brought out their new Lana range which is another great soft wool fabric which adapts to temperature changes and is also made from 85% recycled yarn. The Lana collection is naturally fire retardant which means it doesn’t require any chemical treatments to be used for upholstery.  There are 55 colours to choose from ranging from neutrals to rich, bright colours – your hardest decision will be choosing which one to choose from!

Below features our Storage Crate which can be made using wool or velvet fabric in a choice of your colour. Linwood fabric also works perfectly on our Industrial Chairs which is available in Linwood Wool, Leather or Velvet.

Bute.

Bute Fabric has just launched their new ‘Magic Collection’ which has been made using 100% recycled fibres. Bute creates wool Melton in bold, bright colours which have high durability making it even more appealing to use!
