DESCRIPTION:This workshop is aimed at complete beginners looking for an introduction into the world of upholstery. \nDo you feel frustrated because you don’t know how to start your upholstery project\, keep on buying the wrong type of fabric\, or haven’t got the right tools. Come and try it out for yourself at this in person workshop where you will get to experience it all first hand and have expert advice along the way. \nBy the end of the workshop individuals will have an understanding of the tools\, materials and fabric needed to complete basic upholstery projects\, along with practical experience at basic upholstery techniques. Full overview detailed below. \nIf you like to learn in person this workshop is for you. The workshop includes a mixture of practical and theoretical teaching. You will have the opportunity to ask Emma lots of questions throughout the day. \nYou will be able to use the basic techniques you learn to upholster furniture like drop in dining chair seats\, footstools\, bench seating\, stools\, headboards and more. \nOn this workshop you will make a finished piece of furniture of your choice to take away with you at the end of the day. You can choose from a bench\, a stool or a small or large footstool and you will be able to select your colour of fabric and finishes. \nFurniture choices – Please select your choice when booking. \n\nBench or Stool – and choose from either metal hairpin legs or mid-century style wooden legs.\nFootstool (large or small) – for the feet choose from a natural or dark wax.\n\nFabric choice: \nSustainable fabric is included. It will include a useful glossary of all the names\, so you know what you are searching for when you buy as well as seeing physical examples of what they are. \nFabric –  \nEmma will share her expertise and tips so you feel prepared to buy the right upholstery fabric for future projects. \nYou will get to see and feel different upholstery fabrics as part of the tutorial. \nEmma will include an overview of fabric sustainability and show you examples available. It will also include tips on how to do a search for fabric online. \nUpholstery Techniques \nDemonstration and practice experience on the following basic upholstery techniques. \nAttach elasticated webbing and hessian. How to measure foam for a project and attach (stapling and gluing with spray adhesive).  How to measure what fabric you need and marking out your fabric. How to start attaching your fabric. \nFinishing corners – including hospital corners and a double pleated corner. Single piping and how to attach. Example of shallow buttoning. \nHot and cold drinks are provided throughout the day. You will need to bring your own lunch.

Suitable for beginners. \nYou will learn how to: \n\nStaple elasticated webbing and hessian to the wooden frame\, gluing foam to the hessian (not applicable to crate).\nMeasure and cut your fabric\, stapling to your furniture frame\, and finishing it with double pleat corners.\nMake your own fabric buttons and apply to furniture (shallow buttoned design only).\nMake piping and finish your furniture with fabric borders (piping design only).\nFix the feet or legs to your furniture.\n\nFurniture choices – Please select your choice when booking. \n\nBench or Stool – choose from either metal hairpin legs or mid-century style wooden legs.\nFootstool (large or small) – for the feet choose from a natural or dark wax.\n\nFabric choice: \nSustainable Fabric choices included. SUMMARY:"Celebrate Your Success" Creative Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Are you an entrepreneur or small business?  Do you ever take the take time to stop and celebrate success and business milestones? \nDo you reward yourself or your team for their hard work and progress. Speaking from experience\, it can easily be forgotten. We are usually speeding onto the next thing and never take a moment to pause and reflect on the brilliant work we have already achieved. \nWe want to change this…..and invite you to celebrate with us at a creative upholstery workshop. It is a sustainable way to reward those who deserve recognition for their hard work. \nWe will be hosting an event at the end of every quarter\, an opportunity for twelve individuals to have time away from their busy work environment\, relax and enjoy a bit of time just to themselves. \nThe morning starts with a welcoming hot drink\, informal introductions and an outline of the event. \nThen\, diving straight into the fun stuff\, spending a few hours unlocking your inner creativity and experiencing upholstery\, making a unique and eco-friendly notice board which can also be used as a vision or display board. Your’s to take home at the end of day\, a lasting reminder of the experience. The board can be personalised as a range of sustainable fabrics are included. \nWhilst you are making your creation you have the opportunity to chat and connect with like minded individuals as you will be working side by side. \nNo experience is needed – complete novices are welcome. \nFinishing the session with a delicious ‘afternoon tea’ style lunch. \nAfter a creative upholstery workshop participants can expect to experience the following: \n\nCreative expression: Upholstery is a craft that allows them to explore their creative side and foster innovation. Through fabric choices\, and decorative details like buttoning. They can infuse their own unique style and personality into the upholstery project\, turning it into a creative expression of themselves.\nConfidence and empowerment: Participants will gain a sense of empowerment and belief in their own unique creative potential.\nRe-energised: By engaging their mind and body in a creative activity they are able to clear the mental clutter and re-engage their imagination returning to work and daily life re-energised and more productive.\nConnection and communication: they will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for self-discovery and creativity.\n\nAttending a creative upholstery workshop is truly a ‘feel good day’ where participants will leave re-energised\, feeling proud\, and a huge sense of achievement. \nWhat’s included: \nHot and cold drinks are included throughout the day. \nLunch is provided.
